John McCain does not have the Rudy Syndrome.

Tonight, John McCain won the Republican Presidential Primary in the state of New Hampshire.  This after being basically ruled out as a contender several months ago.  How did he do it?  He did what Rudy would do.

A year ago, Senator John McCain (R-AZ) was the decided front runner for the Republican Presidential nomination.  But, six months ago, when his campaign fund raising turned up short, and his campaign management was called into question, he was all but given up for dead by pundits, media outlets, supporters, and detractors alike.  Instead of throwing in the towel and giving up the fight, McCain did just the opposite.  He worked harder and fought more diligently to come back from behind to emerge as a winner in the Nation's first primary.

Tonight's victory does not mean Senator McCain will automatically become the Republican nominee.  It does prove that he does not have the Rudy Syndrome, however.  He could easily have done what some of Rudy's teammates did and put in a marginal effort, or even quit, because of the hopelessness his campaign was facing.  But, he didn't do that.  He simply made up his mind to work harder than anyone else to regain his footing and become the front runner again.

Senator McCain's victory tonight is proof that it is possible to emerge victorious, against all odds, if you simply put every ounce of your effort into your goal.  Whether we agree with his politics or not, we should all be inspired by the hard work and determination demonstrated by the McCain campaign.

Next time, we'll talk about why Hillary Clinton does not have the Rudy Syndrome, either.
